Rational Argument
My rationale was about women being sexualized in advertisements. It has been a worldwide issue and has still been going on for decades. I talked about the reasons why they are sexualized and how it is affecting them. I first thought of this topic when I was in my gender studies class. We read a chapter from Feminism Is for Everybody by Bell Hooks. Hooks explained how women were developing eating disorders because they needed to look a certain way for the advertisements. They never met the expectation of being skinny. We then watched a film called Killing Us Softly 4, which goes into more depth about the advertisements. The film explains how models wished they looked like they did in ads. Women were being sold products that claimed to get them skinnier, but it only took a toll on women and led them to be anorexic.
